Meal Choices On The Go!
At two weeks until my next competition, I took a long weekend trip to San Diego with my wife to stay with an old friend. The idea was that over four days I would get in as many workouts, add in as much cardio as could fit, and relax in between. We landed Wednesday morning, I picked up the rental car, and our first stop was food...a restaurant. Now, our second stop was a grocery store, and usually a deli department will have decent food choices - but I was with my wife and she was starving, so restaurant it was. And an Italian restaurant at that, meaning my carb choices were bread or pasta. So what is a poor bodybuilder to do? Go for the pasta. Why? Pasta is a more "complex" carb, meaning that your body will be a little slower at breaking it down into sugar. You'll get your energy from it over a longer period of time, your body will be less likely to store any extra as body fat, provided you don't overeat. So, chicken bacon carbonara bowl in my belly, it was time to hit Von's for frozen chicken breast tenders, brown rice, and salsa! Make good choices!
